ACLASS
Accredits First Inspection
Body to ISO/IEC 17020
Arlington, VA
–
The ANSI-ASQ
National Accreditation
Board/ACLASS has awarded its
first accreditation
certificate for ISO/IEC
17020, the international
standard for inspection
bodies, to Damarc Quality
Inspection Services LLC.
Damarc is a boiler/pressure
vessel inspection agency
based in Dresser, WI.
The awarding
of its first ISO/IEC 17020
certificate marks the
expansion of ACLASS
accreditation services to
include inspection bodies in
addition to those for
testing and calibration
laboratories and reference
material producers.
“We have
moved into a complementary
line of business with our
other accreditation
programs” Keith Greenaway,
ACLASS Vice President, said.
“It’s exciting to have
accredited our first
organization to ISO/IEC
17020 and the first
organization within the
boiler/pressure industry to
earn this accreditation.”
Damarc
performs third-party safety
certification inspections
for pressure piping,
boilers, mechanical
refrigeration, refineries,
pressure vessels and
conventional and nuclear
power plants both in service
and under construction. The
organization also develops
welding procedures and
provides third-party
inspection of welded repairs
for clients holding the
National Board of Boiler and
Pressure Vessel Inspectors
“R” Certificate of
Authorizations.
“In the
ever-changing technological
world of heat and energy
generation, Damarc prides
itself on accountable,
accurate, thorough, and
timely inspections. This
accreditation by ACLASS is
proof of such
accountability,” Mark Rudek,
President of Damarc, said.
“Damarc is the very first
accredited boiler
and pressure vessel
in-service inspection agency
to obtain the ISO/IEC 17020
accreditation status.”
Damarc was
the first organization
accredited by the National
Board of Boiler and Pressure
Vessel Inspectors to perform
authorized in-service safety
inspections of boilers and
pressure vessels. All of
Damarc’s inspectors hold the
National Board Commission to
provide safety inspections
as required by the State
Jurisdictions and many
Federal Agencies.
